Gov. Lincoln Chafee has vetoed several pieces of legislation, including one that would have allowed doctors and other medical professionals to issue temporary handicapped parking passes.
Chafee says the bill included no oversight and could have resulted in abuse that would have allowed people without legitimate needs to obtain the 21-day permits.
Another bill would have given auto body shops the right to sue auto insurance companies over the price of repairs.
Chafee said that bill would have led to higher auto insurance rates.
He also vetoed a bill that would have allowed police to obtain warrants to search any electronic device. Chafee called that bill too broad and said it was an issue best left to the courts.
