A small community in northwestern Illinois has marked the first anniversary of a damaging fire.
Residents of Prophetstown gathered Tuesday for a ceremony to celebrate the first responders and the ground-breaking of a new building downtown. A 79-year-old woman presented a plaque to the four firefighters who saved her life.
The fire destroyed eight buildings in historic downtown Prophetstown and caused $3 million in damages.
Two underage brothers were each sentenced to five years of probation for starting the fire.
