Officials in North Texas will have to repair faulty bridge beams on the new $1.4 billion Chisholm Trail Parkway after an inspection found design flaws.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the North Texas Tollway Authority will spend $900,000 to replace beams on the Trinity River and just west of downtown Fort Worth.
The beams were determined to be too weak for the bridges, which had not yet been opened.
The tollway authority has opened most of the parkway, which runs from near downtown Fort Worth to U.S. Highway 67 in Cleburne.
Officials say toll receipts on the parkway are already higher than they originally anticipated.
