A group of survivors of a 1977 Kentucky night club fire that killed 165 people near Cincinnati asked Gov. Steve Beshear to reopen the investigation into its cause.
A former employee who was 18 at the time of the fire is among those who visited with representatives from the Beshear administration on Monday. The employee, David Brock, says the investigation was not done properly and believes the fire may have been intentionally set.
The group also includes fire experts and contends investigators allowed the site to be razed too soon and never seriously considered alternative causes.
Rumors of arson linger despite a ruling that faulty wiring caused the fire at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, Ky., across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.
Kentucky State Police decided against reopening their investigation last year.
