New York’s Superintendent of Insurance Gregory Serio announced that Department specialists from the Consumer Services Bureau will be staffing an information booth, located in the Verizon Center of the Progress Building, at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, N.Y., which runs from Aug. 21 through Sept. 1.
“The Department will be staffing a new consumer friendly information booth and handing out informational computer disks which provide the Department’s consumer guides to health, auto, homeowners, and long term care insurance, as well as the small business guides for health and property insurance,” said the announcement.
NYSID specialists “will be in attendance to provide the public with an opportunity to ask questions concerning health, life, automobile and homeowners insurance, submit consumer complaints, learn about Healthy NY, become educated about insurance fraud and ask insurance-related questions about the recent blackout in the Northeast.” The booth will also be equipped with a computer allowing consumers to access the Department’s Web site.
“With over one million visitors to the Erie County Fair where the Department debuted the new consumer friendly booth, I encourage New Yorkers to take advantage of this opportunity to meet with the Department’s insurance experts at the New York State Fair and discover the valuable insurance information that is available,” Serio stated.
