The PMA Insurance Group has introduced an upgrade to its Web site functionality. As of Sept. 1, PMA clients have the option of reporting all lines of PMA claims electronically through the Internet.
The new Internet Loss Reporting capability is designed to provide an ease of doing business for clients. PMA customers complete an electronic form on PMA’s Web site, which is instantly transmitted to the company’s customer service center. Immediately, an electronic confirmation receipt is issued, along with the new claims number.
According to Kurt Schuhl, PMA’s senior vice president and chief claims officer, reporting claims via the Internet facilitates clients’ reporting claims promptly. “Particularly in workers’ compensation, the time frame in which customers report claims significantly affects outcomes and the total cost of claims. The faster a claim is reported, the sooner PMA can implement our three-point (Injured Employee, Medical Provider and Employer) contact strategy. Prompt communication among the parties helps eliminate confusion, allows for investigation of facts to make a compensability determination, sets expectations early for estimated length of the disability and lays the foundation for prompt return to work.”
The PMA Insurance Group is a workers’ comp specialist and also offers commercial automobile, general liability and group disability insurance.
With 17 offices from New York to Florida, The PMA Insurance Group is headquartered outside of Philadelphia in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. The PMA Insurance Group includes Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association Insurance Company, which is a subsidiary of PMA Capital Corporation (NASDAQ:PMACA). PMA Capital Corporation has $3.7 billion in assets, as of June 30, 2004.
