Discussions on hurricanes and catastrophe management, transportation security and ethics in business are among the topics to be discussed at the “Marine Insurance Issues 2005” seminar sponsored by the American Institute of Marine Underwriters (AIMU). The full-day event will take place on May 17 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
A keynote address on some of the current issues facing the insurance industry will be delivered by Howard Mills III, Acting New York Insurance Superintendent.
Other presentations will address: big ships and how they can present benefits and problems to the economy, environment, safety and service industries; escalating P&I costs and successful remedies to curb these costs in the future; and do’s and don’ts of file documentation for underwriters, claims personnel and others.
The cost of the seminar is $295 (members of AIMU), $320 (non-members of AIMU) and $250 for CPCUs and covers all materials, luncheon, coffee breaks and a reception that evening. To attend the reception only, the cost is $75. Reservations must be received, with payment, by May 12.
Attendees are eligible for continuing education credits as follows: 6 credits towards National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) recertification; and CPCUs will be awarded 7 CPD points under the Continuing Professional Development Program for CPCUs. Approved for 7 Continuing education credits for agents and brokers in New York and Connecticut.
