Philip Porter, senior vice president, Crawford & Company Claims Management Services, announced that Lloyd’s of London Agency Department has appointed Crawford as the Lloyds agent in Norfolk, Va., effective July 1, 2005. Crawford is currently Lloyd’s agent in Anchorage, Alaska, nine locations throughout Canada, and three locations in Sweden.
“This is a very exciting time for Crawford Marine,” said Porter. “Crawford Marine is a new unit which is growing and building upon its successes, so it is very exciting to be acknowledged and appointed by Lloyd’s to provide the level of service that they insist upon.”
The Lloyd’s Agency System is a worldwide network of more than 350 businesses whose principal function as Lloyd’s Agent is to provide a range of surveying services to the maritime market. Appointment as a Lloyd’s Agent is a mark of recognition by the Corporation of Lloyd’s of the appointee’s expertise and service to the marine shipping community.
Situated in most of the main ports and commercial centers around the world, each provides independent survey and claims-adjusting services. Although the Lloyd’s Agency network is heavily influenced by its maritime origin, many Agents have reportedly diversified to embrace the aviation, property, motor, and liability specialties.
