Fatal Pennsylvania Crane Collapse Draws $119K OSHA Fine

July 2, 2008

Federal regulators are proposing $119,400 in workplace safety fines against a Beaver County manufacturing firm where a worker died in a crane accident.

The worker, 53-year-old William Mike, was killed Dec. 27 when a six-ton stainless steel cylinder dropped onto him from a crane at KMA Manufacturing Inc. in Vanport Township.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration says its investigation found 42 serious violations and four repeat violations of workplace safety standards.

The company has 15 business days to contest the proposed fines.
