A New York court has ordered a hospital to pay $2.2 million to a quadriplegic man who developed bedsores “all the way down to the bone.”
Attorney Raymond Keegan says caregivers failed to turn Eric Trainor every two hours during his six-week stay. He says the bedsores severely hampered Trainor’s rehabilitation.
Spokeswoman Kara Bennorth said the Westchester Medical Center does not comment on lawsuits.
Trainor now lives in Springfield, Mass. He was enroute to a construction job in 2005 when the car skidded on ice and crashed in Dutchess County, N.Y.
Keegan said the money will help pay for a special van and a wheelchair, and provide for Trainor’s three young children.
