There were fewer traffic fatalities in New Jersey in 2009 but more pedestrian deaths.
That, according to a State Police report issued Monday.
As of Monday, 577 people had been killed in traffic accidents in New Jersey compared to 590 the year before.
But 165 pedestrians died in 2009 after they were hit on New Jersey roadways compared to 138 last year.
