Vermont State Police fire investigators are seeking the cause of an explosion that destroyed a house in the town of Norwich.
Police say that when firefighters arrived at the New Boston Road home at about 6 p.m. Monday they found debris from the house scattered over a wide area.
Officials say the explosion was consistent with a gas leak, but no official determination has been made.
There were no injuries.
Firefighter extinguished a small fire in the back yard.
Police estimate the damage to the house, which was up for sale, at $500,000.
