A solar energy company and its two owners are suing the town of Front Royal, Virginia and three Town Council members for more than $30 million.
Donald Poe and Gregory Horton claim in a defamation suit that their reputation was damaged by allegations that they attempted to bribe the town manager. They say they suffered emotional and mental distress. They also claim their company, SolAVerde, has lost business because of the allegations, which they say are false.
The bribery claims stem from the town’s solicitation of proposals to build a solar energy generation farm.
Town Attorney Tom Robinette declined Friday to comment on the lawsuit, which was filed in Warren County Circuit Court. The complaint names the town and council members Chris Holloway, Thomas Sayre and Carson Lauder as defendants.
