A southwestern Pennsylvania church has been reduced to rubble and its pastor says last winter’s heavy snows are to blame.
The roof of the St. John Baptist Church in Lawrence, collapsed on Friday. The Rev. Melvin Wilson says the roof had been damaged in February’s snow storms, prompting the collapse.
Wilson says everything had been removed from the sanctuary because the roof wasn’t safe and the church hoped to have it fixed.
The pastor says the church hopes to rebuild but is struggling with its insurance company.
