Fire investigators in Maine are trying to determine what started a blaze that heavily damaged a senior housing center that is under construction in Bangor.
The Thursday morning fire started on the second floor of the three story building, which will include 55 senior housing units.
Bangor Assistant Fire Chief Rick Cheverie estimates damage at “several hundreds of thousands of dollars” mostly from smoke and heat damage.
The Bangor Daily News says the $11 million housing complex had been scheduled to open in January.
It’s unclear how long the fire will delay the opening.
