Police say a western Pennsylvania man attempted to steal several hundred feet of railroad track to sell as scrap metal.
The Beaver County Times reports Saturday that 30-year-old Raymond Blaze Lambing was using cutting torches, a Bobcat tractor and a rolling dumpster to remove rails in Aliquippa, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, when police answered a call on Nov. 22.
Police have charged Lambing, of Bethel Park, with theft, criminal mischief and damaging railroad property.
The paper reports that the Ohio Central Railroad estimates the damages at $83,431.
Police say Lambing claimed he had been hired to remove the track.
An attorney wasn’t listed on Lambing’s docket sheet and a phone number for him couldn’t be located.
