Firefighters remain at a large abandoned factory in Waterbury, Conn., that continues to smolder two days after the fire started.
The fire that began Saturday evening gutted the former Nova Dye & Print Corp. on Mill Street and caused much of the 86,000-square-foot building to collapse. Firefighters continued to douse hot spots Monday morning.
Officials say it could be days before fire investigators can get inside to try to determine the cause. Officials are calling the fire suspicious and say there have been several smaller fires at the building over the years.
State and federal environmental officials were called to the scene because the site is contaminated with industrial waste. Officials determined there are no air quality or water runoff issues with the fire.
