Two lawsuits stemming from a 2010 wreck that killed two Rocky Mount volunteer firefighters have been settled.
One lawsuit was filed by Teri Anne Valentine against the estate of Fire Chief Posey Dillon. Dillon’s estate filed the other lawsuit against Valentine.
Dillon and firefighter Danny Altice were killed in July 2010 as they were responding to a call. State police have said their fire truck was hit by an SUV driven by Valentine.
The Roanoke Times reports that Valentine and Dillon’s estate agreed to settle the lawsuits. Details weren’t available Tuesday.
A third lawsuit filed by Altice’s daughter, Christie Altice-Weaver, against Valentine and Dillon’s estate is pending.
Altice-Weaver’s attorney, Tony Russell, says the case is scheduled to go to trial in September.
