A southern New Jersey man has been indicted on charges of providing a false insurance certificate and working as an unregistered contractor after authorities revoked his registration
Shane Wood of Toms River, also known as Shaine Wood, faces forgery charges and other counts in the indictment handed up by a Monmouth County grand jury. It was made public Tuesday.
Prosecutors say the 48-year-old Wood was arrested in July after an investigation by the Superstorm Sandy Fraud Task Force.
The probe revealed Wood sub-contracted to perform roof repair work at a Monmouth Beach site in late January. When the general contractor requested a certificate of liability insurance, Wood allegedly sent a false document.
Wood faces up to six years in prison if convicted. It’s not known if he’s retained a lawyer.
