New Jersey Governor Says Fed Requirements Delaying Sandy Aid

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie drew applause by bashing the federal flood insurance program at a town hall in a community hit hard by Superstorm Sandy.

The governor is also complaining about the federal bureaucracy that he says is delaying the distribution of storm relief grants to affected residents.

The Republican has returned to GOP-friendly Ocean County for another community meeting focused on storm recovery.

At a town hall two weeks ago in Monmouth County, Christie heard complaints from residents still displaced by the storm.

But the governor didn’t hear from commuters stuck in traffic jams manufactured by his aides.

The possible 2016 presidential candidate has been carefully controlling his public appearances since the bridge scandal erupted.

Federal and legislative investigations are under way. A Christie-hired lawyer is conducting an internal review.
