Maryland investigators say a propane leak is to blame for a building explosion in Carroll County that sent two women to the hospital.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office says Thursday’s explosion was a result of propane pooling in the basement of the building on Silver Run Valley Road near Westminster. Injured in the explosion were 38-year-old Heather Bree Harbin, who had burns to her face and torso. Another woman, 39-year-old Julie Ann Griffn, escaped serious injury but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The Fire Marshal’s Office says it is still trying to determine what triggered the explosion. After the explosion it took firefighters about an hour to get the resulting fire under control.
