Maine State Police have completed the inspection of a Jeep involved in last weekend’s fatal hayride crash in Mechanic Falls. But the findings are being withheld for the time being.
Spokesman Steve McCausland said Friday that the results of the vehicle examination will be included in the final report that will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review.
The crash occurred during a Halloween-themed hayride at Harvest Hills Farm on Oct. 11, and investigators said it appeared that a mechanical malfunction played a role.
Oakland resident Cassidy Charette died from head injuries and 22 other people were hurt.
The 1979 Jeep CJ5 that was towing the wagon was examined Friday in a garage in Auburn by a team of state troopers, motor vehicle inspectors and fire marshal investigators.
