A long-planned memorial meant to remember the 100 people killed at a 2003 nightclub fire has gotten the final approval it needs from Rhode Island state agencies to move forward.
Gina Russo of the Station Fire Memorial Foundation says work will begin in the spring. She says the group’s biggest need now is to raise donations for the project.
The foundation has around $200,000 in the bank and estimates it needs $2 million to build and maintain the memorial in perpetuity.
