International Medical Group(R), Inc. (IMG(R)) recently added a terrorism option to its Patriot Travel Medical Insurance(R) and Patriot Executive(SM) international travel medical insurance plans. This option, or rider, provides conditional coverage for injuries incurred as a result of an act of terrorism.
If an insured person is injured and has no direct or indirect participation in the act of terrorism, the IMG-administered plans will reimburse eligible medical expenses up to a U.S. $50,000 lifetime maximum.
While the rider provides coverage for many unexpected events, it will not cover an act of terrorism in a location where the U.S. government has issued a travel advisory within the six (6) months prior to the insured person’s date of arrival or if the insured person fails to leave a location following an issued warning. Claims incurred as a result of radiological, nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons or events also are not covered.
Patriot Travel Medical Insurance is designed for U.S. and non-U.S. citizens who are traveling outside their country of citizenship from 15 days up to two (2) years. Patriot Executive is designed for U.S. and Canadian citizens who are traveling outside the U.S. and Canada frequently throughout the year for durations of either 15 or 30 days.
Both plans are offered by IMG as managing general underwriter and administrator and underwritten by Sirius International Insurance Corporation (publ) as the carrier.
