Certified Risk Managers (CRM) announced from Austin that it has scheduled a course in risk management to be held in Monterey, Mexico Oct. 18-21 in Spanish. CRM called the course – “Principios de la Administración de Riesgos,” or “Principles of Risk Management” – an “important development in risk management,” as it marks the first time it will be presented in Spanish with accompanying materials I n the same language.
CRM described the program as “a rigorous five-part education/designation program that has been available across the United States since 1997. The same curriculum will be used in Mexico, with modifications to reflect the country’s laws and accounting regulations.”
The first course is part of a series of four, and will lay the foundation for the others, which have already been planned.
CRM said the Program would “be conducted by Certified Risk Managers International (a member of The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research) in conjunction with Risk Mexico, a private company engaged in risk management and business continuity education.”
Jorge Escalera Alcazar, former President of the RIMS Chapter in Mexico and Risk Manager for Axtel, commented: “A survey compiled by Risk Mexico showed a real need for risk management education of this kind. There is a lack of formal education in risk management in Mexico, and when available, it is usually written in English.”
He added that the “CRM course will set the standard for practical risk management education and bring a proven program to Mexico and Spanish-speaking countries.”
The facility for the class will be the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus, Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. There will be open enrollment and an optional examination on the last day. “In addition to risk managers, this course will be relevant for all insurance practitioners, actuaries, adjusters and those involved in finance and loss control,” noted William T. Hold, Ph.D., CIC, CPCU, CLU, President of The National Alliance.
