An official says that a bus in northern India fell down a steep gorge in dense fog, killing 12 people and injuring 13 others.
Spokesman Amit Chandola for the state government of Uttarakhand says the bus fell into the 100-meter-deep (340 feet) gorge in the Uttarkashi region early Wednesday.
Chandola says the accident happened when the driver failed to manage a sharp curve because of the dense fog.
Accidents are common in the hilly state of Uttarakhand, many of them due to bad roads, aging vehicles or negligence.
