Greenlight Capital Re Ltd. Announces Appointment of Burton as Chief Executive Officer
Greenlight Capital Re, Ltd., a specialist property/casualty reinsurance company headquartered in the Cayman Islands, hired Simon Burton as chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2017.
He will succeed Leonard Goldberg, who will step down as interim CEO while remaining a member of the Company’s Board of Directors. Burton will also be appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Burton previously served as chief executive officer of SAC Re from its inception until its sale to Hamilton Insurance Group, where he was responsible, among other things, for building the company’s global reinsurance portfolio, which supported the material growth in book value. Prior to SAC Re, Burton served in a variety of roles at Lancashire Group, including deputy chief executive officer and chief executive officer of the company’s Bermuda subsidiary. He also spent 10 years at Financial Solutions International, an underwriting division of ACE Limited, where he eventually rose to the role of president.
Powell Joins Bolton & Company as Vice President of Property & Casualty
Bolton & Company, one of the nation’s largest privately owned insurance brokers, announced today that Erin Powell has joined the firm as vice president of the organization’s Property & Casualty Department.
With more than 20 years of industry experience, Powell will lead Bolton’s Property & Casualty efforts company-wide through its Pasadena headquarters and satellite offices in Santa Clara and Orange County.
Powell will manage Bolton’s Property & Casualty service teams—including small business and claims—while developing new business and expanding the organization’s exclusive programs and offerings. Additionally, she looks to further develop carrier relationships and find new ways to collaborate with Bolton’s key markets.
Bolton President and CEO Steve Brockmeyer said this latest organizational development is a strategic step that will lead the firm into the next chapter of its continued growth.
Prior to joining Bolton, Powell was senior vice president with Orion Risk Management. In roles prior, she was senior vice president and Property & Casualty practice leader with Lemme, a division of Integro USA, and vice president, unit manager with Lockton Companies and co-led the Law Firm Practice Group. She has been involved in various Women in Leadership organizations, including being one of the co-founders of Lockton’s Southern California Women in Leadership chapter. Powell also managed and mentored the Associate Account Manager/Future Leaders Program for the firm.
Athens Administrators Names New Executive Vice President, Workers’ Compensation
Athens Administrators, a third-party claims administration services provider appointed Douglas Gibb as executive vice president, Workers’ Compensation.
Gibb will be responsible for the oversite of all of Athens’ workers’ compensation claim administration operations, initially splitting time between Athens’ Orange County and Concord, Calif., locations then transitioning to full time at corporate headquarters in Concord.
With over fifteen years in the workers’ compensation industry, Gibb joined Athens in 2011 as a unit supervisor, a position he held for two years until he was promoted to division claim manager. In this position, he was responsible for running the Orange office and under Gibb’s leadership, the Orange office has successfully managed many high-profile programs which include large, sophisticated private sector and public agency self-insured programs.
