AAA Michigan and Help Eliminate Auto Thefts have teamed up to develop a traveling interactive exhibit to teach Michigan policyholders about auto theft prevention and the collective and personal impact of auto theft crime, including auto insurance fraud. AAA Michigan is sponsoring the new educational exhibit, which will also demonstrate how the HEAT® program works to reduce auto theft and take criminals off the streets.
Beginning this summer, the HEAT® display will be placed at several Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etching fairs, co-sponsored by AAA Michigan and the Auto Theft Prevention Authority of Michigan, held across the state, providing an opportunity for people to learn about auto theft prevention while having the VIN number lightly stenciled onto the glass surfaces of their vehicle. Additionally, Metro Detroiters will have a chance to explore the new exhibit at many public placements throughout the year, including universities, police departments and community centers.
According to the Director of HEAT®, Terri Miller, the new interactive exhibit is extremely effective at conveying the impact of auto theft related crime, and teaching people how to protect themselves.
“We are excited that AAA Michigan has teamed up with HEAT® to make this important exhibit a reality,” Miller said. “By making drivers aware of ways to protect against auto theft we can limit the opportunities for thieves to steal and continue to reduce auto theft related crime in Michigan.”
“AAA Michigan is pleased to support the HEAT® program through the sponsorship of the interactive display,” Bob Vogt, manager of Claim Investigations, at AAA Michigan, added. “AAA Michigan and HEAT® are longtime partners in the fight against auto theft – HEAT® has helped AAA Michigan in the recovery of millions of dollars in stolen property and vehicles, which in turn benefits our customers by helping to control auto insurance premiums.”
