The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a South Euclid man has been sentenced for a misdemeanor charge of workers’ compensation fraud.
The City of Cleveland Municipal Court sentenced Larry Manno to two years probation and ordered him to pay a $250 fine. He is also is required to pay BWC $242,456.39 in overdue premium. This is the first time the City of Cleveland has prosecuted an employer for workers’ comp non-compliance.
Because Manno Landscaping has reportedly been non-compliant for several years, BWC’s special investigations department (SID) pursued the company for its outstanding premium.
The investigation confirmed that Manno has operated without workers’ comp coverage since 1991.
