National Issues Focus of Industry Seminar in Chicago

February 10, 2005

In the last several years, insurance companies have undertaken various cost-cutting measures in an effort to improve the bottom line. However, with cost-cutting efforts now reaching their fullest potential, new ways to streamline claim processes, improve business workflow, and increase communication are an industry imperative.

These are just some of the issues to be discussed during a special one-day industry seminar for property and casualty insurance professionals presented by Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, to be held March 1, at the Wyndham Northwest Chicago Hotel in Itasca near Chicago.

As a provider of wireless-enabled, ruggedized, laptop computers for the insurance and financial services industry, Panasonic, their customers and industry partners offer a unique perspective on achieving these goals.

For this seminar, Panasonic has brought together a speaker roster that includes insurance company executives, editorial experts and insurance technology leaders who will discuss topics of critical interest to claims managers, claims representatives, IT managers, CIOs, VPs of claims, and other property and casualty insurance professionals.

One of the seminar’s primary addresses, “Designing a Comprehensive Business & Technology Strategy to Support the Mobile Workforce,” will be presented by Richard Affenit, vice president of Worldwide Claims at CNA Insurance. Additional presentations at this event include information on protecting corporate assets and information, Sarbanes-Oxley and its impacts on equipment financing, implementing a mobile estimator program, rules-based applications for claims, and technology trends for the insurance industry.

Mark Lund, national sales manager of Panasonic Computer Solutions Company’s Insurance & Financial Services Team will lead off the day’s agenda with a brief introduction, to be followed by several educational presentations. Presenters will include Affenit; Kevin Coffey, president of Corporate Travel Safety; Frank Cerne, editor-in-chief of Insurance Networking News; Paul Baum, president of PlanitROI; Joe Marcum, P/C director of Field Services for Indiana Farm Bureau; and Kornel Heard, director of Claims for Marshall & Swift/Boeckh.
