Michigan regulators have issued 33 citations and proposed $102,060 in fines against an automotive parts supplier in Detroit.
Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigators contend New Center Stamping Inc. failed to adequately protect employees from serious safety hazards discovered during inspections in the fall of 2008.
The inspections revealed two “willful” violations carrying proposed fines totaling $42,000; six “repeat serious” violations punishable by $39,000 in fines; and 11 “serious” violations carrying $19,800 in fines.
New Center Stamping provides General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC with stamped fenders, doors, bumpers and other parts used in collision work on out-of-production models. The company has 15 working days to comply or contest the violations and penalties.
