Police say they received a number of calls when a small earthquake shook a part of northeast Ohio over the weekend.
The U.S. Geological Survey says Saturday night’s quake off the Lake Erie shore had a magnitude of 2.7.
Lt. Tim Brown with the Madison Township police department in Lake County says there were no reports of damage or injuries. He says about 10 people called police to ask why the ground was shaking or to report what they thought were suspicious noises after the quake was felt around 10 p.m.
The geological survey’s Ohio coordinator, Mike Hansen, says the region has seen quite a few earthquakes in recent years. He says it’s not clear what causes them.
