The Nebraska Supreme Court has disbarred an Omaha lawyer who the court says has exhibited a pattern of deception.
In a decision released Friday, the court said 41-year-old William Bouda II had neglected legal matters entrusted to him, made misrepresentations and falsified documents to hide his misdeeds. The court also noted Bouda previously was disciplined for misleading a client.
In August this year, Bouda pleaded guilty to mail fraud in September 2010 that he committed while working as a claims examiner for an insurance company. In federal court documents filed this week, his lawyer says Bouda’s conviction merits no more than a year in prison.
The state disbarment documents mention the fraud but do not cite the federal prosecution.
