A massive fire in a Cincinnati suburb has destroyed a 10,000-square-foot mansion, leaving behind only a charred frame.
Lt. Jim Gilligan of the Madeira and Indian Hill Joint Fire District tells The Cincinnati Enquirer it took firefighters about seven hours to extinguish the blaze, which was reported Friday afternoon in Indian Hill.
No one was injured, but Gilligan says the 22-room mansion was a complete loss.
The Hamilton County auditor’s website shows the home’s market value at more than $4 million. The family who owns the mansion wasn’t home when the blaze erupted, with flames stretching more than 30 feet.
Gilligan says a fire hydrant at the home didn’t provide enough water to put out a fire of that magnitude.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze.
