A fire truck was badly damaged after its aerial ladder touched a high-voltage transmission line at a north Columbia, Mo., fire station.
Columbia Battalion Chief John Metz says the station’s crew was during a routine maintenance check on the 2009 fire engine early Sunday when the ladder touched the line.
No one was injured but the fire engine was severely damaged. Metz says the damage will not affect fire service to the city.
Metz from other stations arrived to help prevent the blaze from damaging the fire station.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports the incident caused a brief power outage for between 500 and 1,000 customers.
