The Insurance Marketing Communications Association (www.imcanet.com) is currently accepting nominations for its Golden Torch Award. The nomination deadline is April 27.
The Golden Torch nomination process now includes an online nomination form through their website at http://www.imcanet.com/index.php?q=node/135.
“Our new automated nomination form and evaluation system makes it easier for both nominator’s and judges,” said Ron Rice, Golden Torch Committee Chair and IMCA Immediate Past President. “We expect it to open up consideration for a whole new group of worthy candidates.”
First presented in 1991, the IMCA Golden Torch Award recognizes an individual, group or organization that has “helped light the way for others” in the insurance industry by improving standards for communications excellence, speaking out convincingly on behalf of the insurance industry, showing a sense of responsibility to society and/or improving public understanding of insurance issues.
The award is given annually at the IMCA annual meeting, which is being held this year at the Newport Hyatt in Newport, R.I., June 3-6, 2007.
Previous Golden Torch winners include Insurance Journal’s Publisher Mark Wells; Donald Hurzeler, senior vice president, Zurich North America Commercial and past president of the CPCU Society; Kathryn J. McIntyre, former publisher of Business Insurance magazine, Walter Gdowski, president of the Rough Notes Company; Nicholas J. Matthews, former senior vice president, National Association of Independent Insurance Agents, and Edwin S. Overman, president emeritus of the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America.
