A system of severe weather moved through several states between the 18th and 23rd of May resulting in damaging winds, hail and flooding in Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.
Farmers Chief Claims Officer Keith Daly noted that, through May 30, Farmers Insurance has had more than 11,900 customers file claims in these states as a result of damage from the severe weather. Farmers Insurance estimates that they will see more than 21,000 claims at a cost of $140 million as a result of this event.
The Company reported that claims staff has already closed approximately 4,600 of the more than 11,900 filed claims.
