The U.S. auto safety regulator on Wednesday closed a recall query covering 420,072 Volkswagen vehicles after the automaker acted to fix a potential fuel leak.
The recall covered certain VW Golf, Jetta and GTI models and the Audi A3 manufactured between 2015 and 2020. It was initially issued in 2016 for a defective suction jet pump inside the fuel tank, which could cause a leak.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had opened a recall query last year to investigate the company’s repairs on the impacted models.
The automaker issued another recall in February to resolve issues with the defective suction jet pump after some owners complained, the NHTSA said.
The suction jet pump is designed to purge fuel from the evaporative emissions system.
