HPE Investigating Breach Claims, Says No Business Impact

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. says it’s investigating a potential cyber incident from a hacking gang that’s also breached other technology giants.

The company became aware last week of “claims being made by a group called IntelBroker that it was in possession of information belonging to HPE,” a spokesperson said Tuesday. “HPE immediately activated our cyber response protocols, disabled related credentials, and launched an investigation to evaluate the validity of the claims.”

IntelBroker is an attacker that’s claimed to have breached technology companies such as Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc. within the past year. “There is no operational impact to our business at this time, nor evidence that customer information is involved,” the HPE spokesperson said.

Texas-based HPE makes technology equipment such as servers and networking equipment. Demand for computing to run AI workloads has led to a boom for makers of high-powered servers like HPE.
