The insurance agency affiliate of Louisiana-based Hibernia National Bank announced it has changed its name to Hibernia Insurance. Specializing in commercial and personal insurance, the agency was formerly called Hibernia Rosenthal following Hibernia’s 2000 acquisition of the Rosenthal Agency.
Hibernia Insurance also said it has relocated its headquarters office to Causeway Plaza at 3510 N. Causeway Blvd. in Metairie, La., a suburb of New Orleans.
“As Hibernia National Bank further expands in Texas and elsewhere, we needed to position the insurance business for growth as well, and changing the name is part of our strategy,” said Steven C. Terry, president of Hibernia Insurance.
“The Hibernia brand communicates the strength and stability required to work with large commercial clients as well as with individuals,” Terry continued. “As part of a major financial institution, we have the sophistication and clout to work with difficult-to-place risks and find solutions that are unavailable in smaller agencies, yet we’re small enough to know our customers well.”
Hibernia Corporation is one of the largest publicly traded national financial holding companies headquartered in the Gulf South, including parts of Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.
The bank has already opened a commercial financial center in North Dallas, and site selection for North Dallas branches is nearly complete. The company plans to build approximately 12 branches in the North Dallas suburbs, with the first scheduled to open before year-end. The company’s commercial financial center in Dallas is now fully staffed. Hibernia plans to open a second commercial financial center in Texas in the second half of this year. It will be located in the Houston area.
“As the bank expands, we may look at acquiring an agency in Texas,” Terry said. “We already have several large commercial clients there, which we serve from our offices in Shreveport, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans.”
Terry explained that Hibernia Insurance specializes in both commercial and personal insurance. On the commercial side, its specialties include employee benefits and property and casualty insurance for the oil and gas, marine, construction and transportation industries.
In addition to mid-sized and large commercial clients, Terry said the agency works with the entire Hibernia customer base, which includes individuals and small businesses.
“If Hibernia customers need insurance expertise, they can call us, whether they need personal or business insurance,” Terry said.
The new phone number for Hibernia Insurance is (504) 834-2424.
