Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti, Jr., announced that Dianne C. Knapp of Pineville, Louisiana surrendered herself to Attorney General Medicaid Fraud Unit Investigators on one count of Medicaid fraud and one count of filing false records.
Knapp, a former employee of A-1 Nursing Registry Inc. of Lafayette, Louisiana, was notified by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners in May 2003 that her license was suspended for unprofessional conduct. Knapp reportedly failed to inform her employer that her license was suspended, thus allowing her to continue treating patients which caused A-1 Nursing Registry Inc. to submit fraudulent claims for services that were rendered by an unlicensed LPN. It was determined that Knapp caused A-1 Nursing Registry Inc. to submit $28,903.88 to the Medicaid Program for reimbursement.
Knapp was also charged with one count of filing false records. In order to maintain employment with A-1 Nursing Registry, Knapp was required to submit a copy of her nursing license. When Knapp submitted her license to the director of nursing, the director reportedly noticed that the license appeared to be altered.
At that time the director contacted the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners and learned that Knapp’s license was reportedly suspended for unprofessional conduct.
