Effective July 1, 2005, the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission changed its proof of coverage (POC) procedures, added a POC search link on its Web site, and eliminated a form it had required for decades.
According to the AWCC, from the 1940s through 1992, insurance carriers verified coverage of employers with an index card , Form A-13. It was replaced in 1993 by Form AR-I as the POC.
On July 1 the AWCC discontinued the use of Form AR-I and replaced it with an electronic POC by accepting data filed with and stored by the National Council on Compensation Insurance.
AWCC Web site visitors can click On-Line Searches to obtain POC for Arkansas employers by linking to the NCCI data. The AWCC eliminated a considerable burden on insurers, freeing them from the task of filing a separate POC with the state while, at the same time, allowing interested parties to check for POC on their own.
The accuracy of data from any third party cannot be guaranteed by the AWCC. The AWCC is not responsible for the coverage information and offers it only as a search tool for POC.
