A Denham Springs, La., lawyer accused of submitting doctored records to get money from an insurance company now faces an insurance fraud charge.
An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury indicted 31-year-old Douglas C. Dorhauer. Prosecutor Mark Pethke says in addition to facing a possible sentence of up to five years in prison, the felony charge also could result in Dorhauer being disbarred.
Dorhauer’s lawyer, Carl Babin, declined comment on the allegations against his client. Babin said Dorhauer has agreed to temporarily surrender his law license pending the outcome of the case.
A state police affidavit says Dorhauer used four medical records to make the fraudulent claim on behalf of Staci Delaune, also of Denham Springs.
