The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Unit recently announced the arrest of Jeomalyeous Thomas, 24, Eric Mayberry, 29, and Larry Henson, 27, on felony insurance fraud warrants stemming from an alleged 2005 fraud scheme.
According to the LSP announcement, investigators believe in July 2005, Jatazz Warren and his girlfriend, Tracee Boston, became involved in an argument while parked in Warren’s car near a Shreveport residence.
Following the argument, Boston returned to her parked car leaving Warren alone in his car. Then, using the front of her car, Boston bumped the rear of Warren’s car causing very minor damage to both cars.
After watching the incident unfold, a nearby “witness” told Warren he could get money out of this because his car was hit from behind. The Shreveport Police were then called to the scene and a crash report was filed, but not before Thomas, Mayberry and Henson were added as occupants in Warren’s car.
Following the crash, Thomas, Mayberry and Henson filed bodily injury claims with Warren’s insurance company stating they were injured when Warren’s car was hit from behind. However, interviews revealed the trio didn’t know how the crash occurred or the identities of others allegedly in the car with them at the time of the crash.
Under Louisiana law, if convicted of insurance fraud, each faces a possible sentence of up to five years in prison, or a fine not to exceed $5,000, or both.
