Following a disaster declaration by the White House, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says it will send aid quickly to people in nine Louisiana parishes hit by storms.
President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster in Beauregard, Bossier, Caldwell, Claiborne, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Union, and Webster parishes. Severe weather struck from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3, dropping up to six inches of rain in some areas and spawned 12 tornadoes.
HUD is offering to help with home mortgages, foreclosures, homeowner’s insurance and loans.
