The Labor Department has cited two subsidiaries of a Pineville, La.-based company for alleged safety and health violations.
The department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced Tuesday that it has proposed a total of $72,000 in penalties for Dis-Tran Steel LLC and Dis-Tran Wood Products Holdings LLC, which are subsidiaries of Crest Industries Inc.
The companies allegedly exposed workers to combustible dust, electrical hazards and welding hazards.
OSHA says it started inspecting the companies’ shared facility in Pineville last October. Nobody was injured in the case.
Dis-Tran Steel employs about 295 workers and manufactures steel utility poles. Dis-Tran Wood Products employs about 10 workers and makes wood cross arms for utility poles.
The companies have 15 business days to contest the citations.
