It may be several weeks before local, state and federal agencies issue a final report on an explosion that killed three oil field workers.
Union County emergency management director Jerry Thomas told the El Dorado News-Times the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Chemical Safety Board are looking into Monday’s blast.
The Arkansas Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 38-year-old Shane Chelette, 24-year-old Coley Gene Lee and 24-year-old Lee Randall Ross died in the explosion near El Dorado. Authorities say the Long Brothers Co. workers were taking apart a metal tank used to hold crude oil when something ignited vapors inside and sparked the blast.
A memorial service was held Wednesday for the men.
