Some residents in southwestern Oklahoma had a jarring start to the new year.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a 2.8-magnitude struck at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 1. The quake was centered about 6 miles northeast of the Stephens County town of Loco and about 23 miles east-southeast of Duncan.
Authorities reported no injuries or damage from the earthquake.
