Gov. Mary Fallin has named a longtime Oklahoma City attorney and a deputy insurance commissioner to fill the final two spots on the newly created Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Fallin on Thursday appointed attorney Robert Gilliland and insurance official Denise Engle to the commission.
Engle will step down as deputy insurance commissioner to accept the appointment.
The new three-member commission was created by legislation this year to change the current court-based workers’ compensation system to an administrative one. Fallin earlier appointed Troy Wilson as the commission’s chairman.
The bill directs the governor to appoint the members, with one appointment recommended by the speaker of the House of Representatives. House Speaker T.W. Shannon recommended Engle for the post.
