The North Little Rock School Board in Arkansas wants the Pulaski County assessor’s office to seek help from its insurance company after problems with tax bills diverted $1 million to Pulaski County schools
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that officials likened the request to filing a claim after a car accident.
Some property taxes were collected at the wrong millage rate beginning in 2009. North Little Rock said it wouldn’t have spent about $883,000 on raises and extended contracts if it had realized it was given money intended for Pulaski County schools.
Joe Thompson of the county assessor’s office says the request for help from the insurance company appears reasonable.
